Darrel G. Babuk, AIA, MRAIC, LEED AP, is a noted speaker and writer on issues combining architecture & transportation.

Mr. Babuk grew up in shaker style railroad stations throughout the prairies of western Canada; he lived for many years in Calgary, Alberta: during his student career, Darrel lived in Washington, DC to fulfill his tenure as National Vice President of the American Institute of Architecture Students. He is a Associate Principal at DLK Civic Design in Chicago, and works with clients in their Transportation and Transit Planning unit.

Mr. Babuk is active in local affairs: he is a Past Vice President of the Canadian Club of Chicago, and is an Adjunct Professor of Architecture at Triton College. At the American Institute of Architects / Chicago Chapter, he has chaired both the Real Estate and Government Affairs Committees; and he has been recognized nationally by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada for his work researching and promoting Canadian architecture.

An architectural history buff, Mr. Babuk has been featured in various media. He has delivered numerous presentations to community groups - including the City of Chicago Mayors Office of Special Events, the Chicago Architecture Foundation describing the history and development of commercial architecture, and the impact of railroads on urban development patterns in Chicago. He has also made presentations on various radio stations including WBEZ-FM in Chicago and CKOM News Radio in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Frank Lloyd Wright was an architect who practiced in Oak Park, Illinois, until scandal caused him to move away - temporarily, for a time - to the Banff Springs Hotel, a Canadian Pacific establishment in western Canada. Darrel Babuk is an architect who moved from his Canadian Pacific Railway heritage in western Canada, to Oak Park, Illinois, where he lives with his wife and children in domestic harmony.
